Clubhouse AYV Plans

A clubhouse leadership meeting was held on Friday, April 30. Clubhouse President, James and member, Donovan were present. We discussed plans for engaging clubhouse members in various AYV activities. We concluded that beginning on Friday, May 14, 2010, and continuing every other Friday through August 20, we will select a site for a Photography/Videography Excursion. The selected site will give us the opportunity to learn and practice using digitial and video cameras.
The plan is for clubhouse members to be dropped off and picked up at the designated site. We brainstormed on what locations would be best. We considered that the cost had to be zero or near zero to make it easy for members to participate (although we did decide that some sites were worth paying for). We created a tentative list that I will post next week. We remain open to ideas and suggestions.
We decided that our first site will be Belle Isle park. Belle Isle is one of the jewels of Detroit. It is an island park that will provide great photo and video opportunities. You can sign up to attend. We have not yet received the funding that we will be using to purchase additional digital cameras, so if you have one, you can bring your own. I will bring tripods and cameras from the clubhouse. We will be walking a lot, so be prepared. We will meet at the Playscape/Giant Slide area at 4:30 and spend about 30 minutes shooting here. We will walk over to the river and shot with the water as our backdrop. Over the next week, we will look at the map of Belle Isle and at websites to determine our route. We may decide to do other dates at Belle Isle because we will not be able to cover all of the great locations in one evening. I know that most of us have been to Belle Isle many times, but remember, you are on a photo-shoot. What shot will make the best picture?
